About Juniper
Alexis Michas and John Bartholdson launched Juniper in 2007 after 30+ years of private equity investing and corporate leadership. They saw an opportunity to apply their unique backgrounds to the public equity market as a large and engaged shareholder in a concentrated set of underfollowed, high-quality businesses. That remains our approach more than 15 years later.
Strategy
Juniper manages a concentrated, long-only equity strategy in US small-cap companies. We aim to own a focused portfolio of quality businesses run by talented leaders, assembled through a process grounded in intensive primary research. We seek to improve investment outcomes by taking large and engaged ownership positions to both enhance upside and reduce downside risk.
Focus on companies where we can add value
There are over 4,000 US public companies with under $1 billion market cap fighting for attention and relevance. The limited investor focus, trading volume and research coverage creates opportunities to become owners of undervalued businesses. Companies of this scale often lack the resources and experience of larger companies and can benefit from the support of aligned long-term shareholders. Our team has over 90 years of experience maximizing the values of corporate assets.
Co-investments
Juniper investors are offered proprietary co-investment opportunities. Co-investments capitalize on especially attractive opportunities beyond the portfolio’s capacity due to size, diversification or liquidity.
